Data you provide to us: email address (registration, early access, user account); name or username, where applicable; content of messages sent via the contact form; photographs and associated metadata, if you upload content to the service.
Data collected automatically: technical browsing data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps); session identifiers and cookies strictly necessary for the service to function; technical logs for security and maintenance purposes.
Data from third-party sources: we integrate public data from OpenStreetMap and Wikidata, among other open sources or partners. This data is generally not personal data concerning you, unless it explicitly refers to an identified or identifiable person.
We process your data to: create and manage your account (contract performance); send transactional emails such as account activation or password reset (contract performance); respond to your contact requests (legitimate interest / pre-contractual measures); improve the service and correct reported errors (legitimate interest); enrich and structure geographic and editorial content using artificial intelligence systems (legitimate interest, subject to your rights); ensure security, prevent fraud, and log technical activity (legitimate interest / legal obligation); and comply with our legal obligations, including reporting unlawful content (legal obligation).
Wemucs uses artificial intelligence tools to process, structure, enrich, or reformulate geographic and editorial content displayed on the service. These processes aim to improve the quality and readability of content offered on Wemucs Journey. AI-generated results are not authoritative and must be verified before use. We do not make decisions producing legal effects concerning you solely based on fully automated processing, within the meaning of Article 22 of the GDPR. Where personal data is processed in this context, we apply appropriate minimization and security measures. When you upload a photograph, we store the file and associated metadata (declared author, date, link to a place or point of interest), and process this data to display the photograph on the service and, where appropriate, to moderate content. You remain responsible for respecting third-party rights in the photographs you upload (see Terms of Service, Photographs section). In the event of a report of unlawful content, we may temporarily retain the data necessary to handle the claim.
Your data may be accessible to authorized Wemucs teams, our technical subcontractors (hosting in France, email delivery, AI tools), bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations, and to competent authorities upon legal request. We do not sell your personal data.
We prioritize hosting and processing data within the European Union. If a transfer outside the EU were to occur (for example via an AI provider), it would be governed by the safeguards provided for under the GDPR (standard contractual clauses, adequacy decision, or other recognized mechanism).
User account: for the duration of use of the service, then deletion or anonymization within a reasonable period after account closure. Contact messages: up to 3 years from the last exchange. Technical logs: up to 12 months, unless a legal obligation requires otherwise. Uploaded photographs: for as long as they are displayed on the service, then deletion within a reasonable period after removal. Data related to a report of unlawful content: for the time necessary to process the claim.
The service uses cookies strictly necessary for its operation (session, authentication, language preferences). Other analytics or personalization cookies may be subject to a separate consent banner, where applicable.
Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing based on legitimate interest, and data portability, where applicable. You may also withdraw your consent at any time for processing that depends on it. To exercise your rights: contact@wemucs.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority for personal data protection.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alteration.
